Chef Nigel McMeans will be at BC Seafood Expo

The 13th annual BC Seafood Festival is once again being held in the Comox Valley from June 7-16th, 2019. This year’s Expo chef line-up offers a wide range of talents from around the Comox valley.

Experience one of the most unique oceanfront dining experiences in the Comox Valley. Enjoy a West Coast inspired menu while taking in the ever-changing views of the Comox harbour set against the backdrop of Beaufort mountain range.

The Blackfin’s Executive Chef, Nigel McMeans, has over 30 years of food & beverage experience. Upon graduation from the Culinary Program of Vancouver Island University, his career began at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. Sous Chef at West Bay Polo Club in Grand Cayman came next for McMeans, followed by extensive travels to Asia and Europe which further enhanced his techniques and skills.

McMeans’ passion for food brought him to the Blackfin Pub in 2006, as Executive Chef, where his culinary team creates a memorable dining experience for all at the Blackfin Pub.

Just as you’d expect from a restaurant that offers ocean view dining, the Blackfin Pub has a fantastic West Coast menu that features seafood as fresh as it comes. They also serve favourite classics from wings and burgers to great starters, pastas, gourmet salads, and delicious entrees. Whether you are craving a perfectly grilled AAA sirloin steak, or sockeye salmon filet, the Blackfin Pub menu has something for everyone.

“To be able to get seafood like mussels, clams, salmon, and geoduck, within an hour of being plucked from the ocean is a thing of dreams for most chefs,” said McMeans.

Located midway on the east coast of Vancouver Island, the Comox Valley is well known for its culinary bounty from the farms and sea to table. Rich with festivals and sporting events, stunning alpine to ocean resorts and spas, this region is a place of super natural beauty that offers lush culinary, cultural and outdoor experiences. It is comprised of the communities of Comox, Courtenay and surrounding rural areas in the Comox Valley Regional District.
